Here’s a quick thought that can help you achieve your weight loss goals. We’d all love to be able to afford a personal trainer, but, let’s face it, times are tough. Personal trainers are expensive.
One of the things that we can do on our own, free of charge, is to create our own personal trainer. I call it “accountability.”
Write It Down: Keep a Journal
Now the most difficult part of accountability is the fact that we all have really, really bad short-term memories. So, what I try to get people to do, and this can apply to really anything, is to keep a journal and write it all down.
Really try to stay focused on what you ate, when you ate it, and how much you had of it. Also take notes and write down what exercise you do, and how much movement you have for the day.
One of the things we can do is look back at those notes and use them as an accountability factor. One thing I always tell my patients is – “things typically always make sense.“
We all know the people that say – “I exercise three hours a day and eat 1200 calories a day, and I’m gaining weight.” The reality of it is, I don’t think they’re really trying to fool anybody, but we all get so wrapped up in our days that we forget what we do. We forget what we eat, when we eat it, and how much we eat of it. We forget to exercise.
There’s many things that you can jot down in terms of how much water you drink, when you had your carbs, when you had your dinner, and what exactly you ate. Keep these things in mind and write them down. Then, at the end the week, spend 5 to 10 minutes looking over these things.
I guarantee that things typically always make sense. If you really want to lose the weight, you need to be accountable. Accountability is your free personal trainer. Just a quick tip to help you reach your weight loss goals.
